Ceiling Fans, Exercise Balls, Headbutts and Spitting

We love our little Jett - his personality is really fun and funny. He is very vocal and has very strong lungs and can project his voice like a professional. He has no trouble telling us how he feels about things. He makes WONDERFUL facial expressions - asleep and awake.

Ceiling fans that are not moving are his favorite object to watch and can actually sway him from throwing a fit. He often purses his lips (like he's saying "Ooooh") at the fans. He loves bouncing and still requires that we bounce him in almost all of his awake time, hence the new found love of our exercise ball. We do get quite the workout these days.

Most nights I wake up to spitting sounds coming from my sweet little son. Serious spitting sounds - like a camel. Or a cat who's really mad. It's very funny. But when you hear the spitting, you know that you have about 2.3 seconds to do some serious bouncing under a ceiling fan before the vocal projection becomes more than you can bear.

I haven't been able to capture the expression yet, but my favorite in his repertoire is when he's coming down off of a screaming fit and sort of half-heartedly coughs. His face is the cutest thing I've ever seen when he does it and I can't help but laugh. But sometimes, he gets offended and decides to go full force into another round of screaming... SHOOT!

His rooting reflex is absolutely amazing. Not a feeding time that goes by when mid-nurse I try to burp him, that he doesn't headbutt me impatiently, vigorously searching for the next half of his meal. And not with the soft spots, either! He's just amazing and strong.

One Month Down!

Our little man turned one month old today. It's hard to believe it has been a month already! He's amazing... Here are some pictures from the past week.
A trip to visit his Smith cousins :)

Hanging out with his Daddy...

Tummy time with Aunt Jen...
Watching the ceiling fan with Angie :)
Sleeping in the "lederhosen" carrier Grammy made 46 years ago!
Morning awake time in Mommy & Daddy's bed.
This is the "Please stop flashing light in my face - I'm trying to sleep" face. So cute!
Pauline and Rebekah came to visit and bounced Jett on the exercise ball for a long time. We offer simultaneous baby visiting and exercise at the Haun house.
He was moving all around when we tried to take his 1 month chair picture. He's getting wiggly.
One month:

One week... Does he look bigger?

Paige and Sean's Stay

Yay! Paige came to visit and brought her beau, Sean, so we could meet him in person. We had a great time getting to know him and Paige had a wonderful time loving on Jett. We went on our first outings with Jett (aside from our anniversary dinner) and learned how tiring they can be! We treasure our time with Paige & Sean and are so grateful that they made a Texas stop in their journey.

We picked them up at the airport and headed to Cafe R&D - best hamburger ever. It was Jett's first restaurant experience and he was famous! He did great...

We did lots of hanging out at home - talking, laughing, reading, resting and getting to know each other.

Paige was an expert bouncer, which Jett requires constantly while awake :) She bounced on our exercise ball for an hour! Look at those guns!!

She also captured Jett's smile on her phone... the first we have. Look at those dimples!! Isn't he just beautiful?

Sean did a great job bouncing and loving on Jett, too. He even gave him 1,500 kisses and told him "I love you" 11,000 times, just like Paige instructed him to.

We made a trip to Babe's Fried Chicken and listened to country music while we enjoyed the down home cooking, Texas style. Thankfully, Paige did get to ride in Casey's truck once while she was here...
We love you, Peachy and Whitey!

Jett is 3 Weeks Old

Oh, we're sleepy and mystified and befuddled and in love and confused and totally blessed by this little person. He loves a bath (if he isn't screaming when he gets in). But in an instant, things can get really ugly: a screaming, wet, shivering 3 week old is a very sad sight indeed. He keeps us dependant on the Holy Spirit to know what the heck we're supposed to do with him sometimes :)

Angie and Grandma Pat came by for a visit and to drop of his Social Security card - he has a number now! How exciting...

Celia brought a special visitor to see us - Ashley was in from Kansas City and we got some good catch up time with her. I think she stayed just because she got to snuggle with little guy for almost an hour. That's okay - we'll take her however we can get her. Love you, Ash! Love you, Celia!

Here are some shots of Jett Remington. We have thousands, so narrowing down is hard, but we try to have mercy on our busy readers!

Brady's 6th Birthday

After our anniversary dinner, Casey and I celebrated Brady's birthday with the Haun/Smith family. We had some good times with helium balloons.

Brady is one amazing boy and we are so glad he's our nephew. We're so proud of him and can't wait to see what this next year holds for him.

Betsy instantly grew very big with Jett around!

Seven Years of Marital Bliss

My husband and I decided to enjoy a dinner out to celebrate our 7 years of successful marriage together. We headed to Honey & Tatu's house, fed Jett and headed out quickly, so we could be back in time for the next feeding time. We had a great time together and we didn't feel nervous - we knew our little guy was in good hands :)

I love my husband so very much. He has been the best dad to Jett that I could ever imagine. And he's been the best husband to me - far better than anything I could have asked or prayed. He loves me in such tangible ways every day and I know his love is an extension of God's love for me. And, he's just cute!

Love you, Mooch. You're the best one :)

Week 2

Jett is a good eater. At his 2 week weigh-in, he was 9 lbs. 7 oz. That's 1 lb. 1 oz. gained in 7 days! No doubt he's in good company around here :)

Aunt Holly and Uncle Jeff came to visit on his 2 week birthday...

And so did his Nanny. She loves him!

The Shucks brought us some yummy dinner and Jeremy showed of his baby handling skills. His cute wife was very impressed :)

Aunt Cathie and Jett's cousins, Kaleb and Nick, came by for a visit, too! This was the first baby Kaleb remembered holding. He did great.

Jett's expression in this one cracks me up - he looks doubtful about something.

Lots of visits from people we love. So fun!
